this was the most impromptu take on this album, as in I wholly didn't expect it to go ANYWHERE because as soon as I started recording, multiple roommates began trouncing through the house and clattering, completely oblivious to my efforts. I thought "okay, i'll just finish this take and go downstairs.." 3 minutes later, I had my favourite take of this song ever on my hands... something about the way my fingers played right then and there, as if they had somewhere to be... you can hear it... usually i start singing one or two bars in, but this time, I just took it in, the sounds I was making...

something I have learned about recording is that if you play well, if you're on the money, the surrounding din of whoever lives with you takes on a previously unappreciated beauty of its own. I still love silence, but whoever was doing rinsing their dishes that night.. well played. I haven't played the song that well since.
